I live in the suburbs of Dallas, TX and Direct energy (after many attempts to resolved my billing issue) turned off my services. I called them and give them my very last penny to get my service turned on.

I adopted a infant that has asthma. She needs her breathing machine.

I called the company and stressed to them that my electricity needs to be turned on immediately because I have this child now. The woman immediately took my money, but decided to turn in the reconnection information to the energy provider the next day (1:00 pm and I paid them at 5:30 pm on the day before).

The woman claim that she put a message on the account that the child is on the premises and a rush on the reconnection is needed. I called on-cor energy all night and early in the morning. I had to go in my car and use my car to give the infant treatment in 23 degree temperature.

I was only a month late. Nice company huh?

you were a month late.... you should've thought of that before you got disconnected!!!

don't you think? i really don't understand how the let you adopt an infant if you are going to be so irresponsible with other things, like paying a bill. you can contact oncor and as well they will tell you it takes 24 business hours for a reconnection.

also if you can't commit to making a payment for a bill call to make arrangements they will wait for you if you call. it will avoid a disconnection and a fee of 29.95 plus the fee for diconnection and reconnection.

also read up about the new SMART METERS, its good information to have. Especially if you've gotten one and your bill went up.

I agree with, JAYDAWG. It is not the electricity company or the employees fault when you are disconnected for non pay when electricity companies give PLENTY of notices/calls/etc...Direct Energy has good service and even better rates; Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขve been with them for about 2 years and havenรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt had any problems.

I understand some billing dispute do come about but you have to think about it AGAINรขโ‚ฌยฆElectricity companies just bill you as a customer, they do not go and read your meters or submit the meter readings , that would the your local TDU (Oncor or Centerpoint.) The electricity company handles the rate your being charged and billing you for what the TDU gives them.

Also if you or someone in your household has a LIFE THREATENING medical condition, then you need to inform your electric provider WHEN you enroll not when you get disconnected, it doesnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt speed up the processรขโ‚ฌยฆ.JUST A LITTLE FYI FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO DONรขโ‚ฌโ„ขT KNOW THAT MUCH ABOUT THE BUSINESS.

I have been a sales agent for 8 days. I was to go door to door & get consumers to switch their gas supplier to Direct energy.

They dont pay their workers hourly..oh no! They pay you 15 bucks for every application. thats it. No money for gas or anything.

And I worked for 5 hrs. knocked 97 doors and got one app. so i got paid 15 dollars. COME ON!

Not to mention, in that 8 days, i was bit by apit bull, locked inside a mans house and he groped and rubbed all over me, and had a man point his gun at me and say leave or i shoot. Im 5'1" and 110lbs..and they could care less.

Sorry, but I have daughter and if I do this job anymore, we will not only have no food, gas, or bills paid..but i may be dead or raped. So they dont care about their employees either!

It just so amazing. If you are old enough to sign up for energy then yu should be old enough to know that if you get a disconnect notice the full balance must be paid by the date on the letter or your lights will get cut off....thats why its called a disconnect notice..A reconnect can take up to 24 hours to go into affect its not up to Direct energy they submitt it to oncore or centerpoint and it is up to the techs to get to your house to cut your lights on.

It never fails....every time someones lights go out someone in there family has medical problems....if that is the case wouldnt you make sure you made your payments on time? And about non sufficient transactions...aint you an adult??

why should a company be the one that tells you that the payment that you sent was no good. I would have cut you off as well.

Something similar hapenned to me with this company, while I'm not entirely blaming them for having my service turned-off I still think they have no respect for their customers, I had a non-sufficient transaction for the amount of $90.00, which I feel they should've contacted me about, but, they disconnected me instead, I then came thru with the payment IMMEDIATELY, but lo and behold, it took them over 24 hrs! to get my service back on, had my little company been a big corporation instead, they would not have even bothered with the disconnection part to begin with, they were all apologies and unfortunatelys all thoroughout the ordeal, like no big deal, after all, who cares, right?
